We’ll see you there! \nBuy Tickets \nPentangle Arts presents Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Festival Tour performance in South Pomfret \n \nTo celebrate the United States’ 250th birthday\, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra hits the road with Summer Festival Tour: America 250\, bringing music to communities across the Green Mountain State. There’s nothing quite like a balmy July evening in the Vermont outdoors\, especially when the state’s orchestra performs beloved favorites like Morton Gould’s American Salute (based on “When Johnny Comes Marching Home”)\, Aaron Copland’s Hoe-Down from Rodeo\, a lively selection of music by John Williams and John Philip Sousa\, and more. \nMusic Director Andrew Crust invites you to bring a picnic blanket and relax under sunny skies to enjoy this cherished annual tradition. Each location features the VSO’s Musical Petting Zoo before the performance\, where audiences young and old can explore a variety of orchestral instruments. Three works will be elevated by live narration by actor/director Jarvis Green and special guest Vermont State Senator Alison H. Clarkson. John Williams’ piece Liberty Fanfare is performed alongside a reading of Emma Lazarus’ poem “The New Colossus\,” Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait includes writings by Abraham Lincoln\, and a reading of Calvin Coolidge’s speech “Vermont Is a State I Love” rounds out the concert. \n  \nPROGRAM \nThe Star Spangled Banner – Traditional\nAmerican Salute – Morton Gould\nLiberty Fanfare – John Williams\nVariations on America – Charles Ives\, arr. There is limited additional parking at Prosper Valley School (1071 Pomfret Rd\, a 2 minute drive from the venue)\, and more ample parking at Woodstock Union High School (100 Amsden Way\, a 10 minute drive from the venue) where you can park and carpool to the concert with family and friends. \n\n\n\nThe grounds at Saskadena Six may be wet\, so plan accordingly.\n\n\nVSO’s TD Bank Summer Festival Tour is back with a lineup of American favorites to get you dancing and celebrating the most anticipated time of year in Vermont. Guest trumpeter and jazz legend Ray Vega joins the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and Argentinian/Italian conductor Michelle di Russo in a concert of swing\, jazz\, spirituals\, and marches. A “…hornman with deep roots in Latin Music and Afro-Cuban Jazz” (New York Daily News)\, Vega is known as a prolific\, state-wide performer and as host of Vermont Public’s Friday Night Jazz program. Relax under the balmy summer skies with feisty\, soothing\, and unforgettable music by Duke Ellington\, Louis Armstrong\, Thelonious Monk\, George Gershwin\, John Philip Sousa\, Johnny Mandel and more.
